When they had journeyed a few hours the way grew more and more familiar, until at last they saw in the distance their father's house.  Then they ran until they came up to it and threw themselves around their father's neck.  The man had not known one happy hour since he left his children in the woods;  the wife, however, was dead.  And when Gretel opened her apron the pearls and precious stones were scattered all over the room, and Hänsel took one handful after another out of his pocket.  Then all anxiety was at an end, and they lived in great joy together.
